Perisher Opening Early 2017

I think everyone is starting to feel that winter is most defiantly in the air at the moment. With overnight lows in Sydney on Monday night of 3 in the west and 6 in the City there are some brisk faces floating around town.

Anyone dreaming of a white winter wasn’t worried one bit though because cold mornings like these often bring good news. Waking to a weather report on Monday morning of over 20cm’s overnight on the hill and opening weekend approaching, a little bit of cold weather can’t spoil any snow lover’s mood.

Icing on the cake, anyone who is on Perisher’s mailing list would have got home to an email with the title “Perisher is Opening Early! Come join us this Saturday June 3!”.

Now we have seen in the past threats of a possible opening weekend bring brought forward but this time it is locked and loaded! No need to wait for the usual June long weekend to get amongst your first tracks of the year. With amazing falls, solid gun action and some chilly forecasts Perisher made the call to bless all of our souls with an extra week of the 2017 season! While it may be a small portion of the hill, no better way to warm up those tight legs and grease those tight knees with a few laps down front valley.

The Perisher CEO Peter Brulisauer was quoted in the email as saying, “We are pleased to again be the first resort in Australia to open and cannot wait to welcome our guests for another great season. The last year we opened one week early was in 2012, which turned out to be a magnificent snow season.”

To the snow gods, thank you for listening to our prayers.

To Perisher, thank you for opening early. We love you.
