So you are in Hirafu and you want a whisky/cocktail bar that won’t disappoint. Ladies and Gentleman, Welcome to Toshiro’s BAR.

As soon as you walk in while you are greeted by the husband and wife combo running the show. Toshi is the man behind the bar and Yoko is fantastic front of house. It has a very warm snow bar feel with bar seating and casual tables while still seeming to resonate class from the moment you walk in.

They have an exceptionally constructed whisky range with all of your Japanese favorites (30 year old Hibiki is worth the price tag) as well as all of your world wide staples. Don’t be afraid though, if you aren’t a whisky fan Toshi can whip you up one of the plethora of Cocktails from his cocktail menu. He is a cocktail master. Not to forget something very close to my heart, Kirin is on tap if you are keen to have a couple of beers.

The food menu is as you would expect – a few little bar snacks that changes every year so check it out once you are in there. Always delicious and suit the environment perfectly.

Toshiro’s is just back from the Hirafu intersection and is easy to find (check the map out below). It is only a short walk from anywhere in Hirafu and a small bus ride if you are staying in one of the villages near by. It’s tucked in the front of the J-Sekka building so go up the steps, and inside on the right you can’t miss it!

The moral is, if you are looking for a relaxed drink in lovely warm environment with two of the most accommodating, amazing Japanese hosts going around Toshiro’s is the place to be. From the high end whisky drinker to a lager lout they have got you covered.

Toshiro’s Bar is 100% Genki Approved!
