Bar Gyu+

Bar Gyu+ is as cool as it looks.

As you head down into the lower village, keep your eyes peeled for that famous red and white fridge door. I can most definitely reassure you that it’s worth the walk. Bar Gyu+ is as good as everyone says it is.

You won’t miss the iconic entry tucked away on the right heading down from the Hirafu intersection. Also commonly known as “Fridge Door Bar”, you can see why. Walking into a traditional Genkan style entry you will be met by one of the staff and shown to a table.

Unmistakably Japanese, their attention to detail is obvious as soon as you arrive. Bar Gyu+ is perfect for a few cheeky cocktails or a whisky to kick your night off (or bring a great evening to an end).

Bar Gyu+ boasts possibly the coolest drinks menu going around. They have a fantastic range of local and imported whiskys and some of the best cocktails in Hirafu. Each cocktail is illustrated on the menu in true Japanese fashion, you would be mad not to try one of the house cocktails, anything infused with Yuzu is delicious. The mixologists will be sure to get your taste buds tingling. If it is Whisky or Sake you are after, don’t be scared to ask one of the staff for some guidance or a tasting set is also a good option.

As you look over the main bar, there is a panoramic window giving you an amazing view of the falling snow over the  silver birch forest.

While you sip on your single malt or devour your cocktail, sit back and enjoy their range of Vinyl. Bar Gyu+ host a massive collection of records so sit back and enjoy a cool and cosy atmosphere.

If you are after a delicious beverage in one of the coolest bars going round (anywhere in the world), then GYU is definitely a great place to start.

GYU is Genki Approved!
